CHALKIS

No.: 284

Schätzpreis-Estimation: EUR 200.-

d=23 mm
POPPAEA. Bronze. POPPAIA - [SEBASTH]. RPC Supplement I, 1352 A (dieses Exemplar). 9,97 g. St. 3. äußerst selten, wohl Unikum. Dunkle, olivgrüne Patina, fast sehr schön.
From Classical Numismatic Group XXII (2 September 1992), 553. Picard did not know of this coin which seems to be the only specimen extant. RPC suggests there might be another letter or symbol next to the A on the reverse but close examination of the coin has shown this to be the end tip of Hera's belt.
